Smash Burgers – Crispy-Edged Griddled Goodness

Preheat the Cooking Surface:
Heat a cast-iron skillet or flat griddle over high heat until it smokes slightly. 🔥

Shape & Smash the Patties:

Divide beef into 2–3 equal portions (about 150g each).

Roll loosely into balls—avoid overworking the meat.

Place a ball on the hot griddle and immediately smash down with a spatula to ½ inch thick. Press hard for crispy edges. 🍔💥

Season:
Sprinkle salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder on top immediately after smashing.

Cook the Patties:

Cook 2–3 minutes on the first side until edges are browned and crispy.

Flip carefully, add a slice of cheddar, and cook another 1–2 minutes until cheese melts and burger reaches desired doneness. 🧀🔥

Toast the Buns:
While patties cook, lightly butter the buns and toast on the griddle until golden. 🍞✨

Assemble the Burger:
