Homemade Apple Slab Pie

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.

Cut in chilled shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add cold water, mixing until dough forms. Divide into two portions (for top and bottom crust). Wrap in plastic and chill for 15 minutes.

Prepare the Filling:

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and vanilla extract. Toss to coat evenly.
