Golden Dumplings with Fresh Tomato and Basil Coulis

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and melted butter.

Pour wet ingredients into dry, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

2. Cook the Dumplings:

Bring a pot of lightly salted water or broth to a gentle boil.

Using a spoon, drop small dumpling portions into the simmering liquid.

Cook for 8–10 minutes until the dumplings float and are firm to the touch. Remove and drain.

3. Make the Tomato & Basil Coulis:

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant.

Add chopped tomatoes, season with salt, pepper, and optional sugar. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until tomatoes soften.

Remove from heat, add basil, and blend until smooth using a hand blender or food processor. Adjust seasoning as needed.

4. Serve:

Spoon the coulis onto plates.

Arrange golden dumplings on top.

Garnish with extra fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm.
