In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.

Add chopped onion (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until onions are softened.

Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables and cook for another 3–4 minutes.

2. Prepare the Potato Topping

In a bowl, mix the hot mashed potatoes with softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

Taste and season with a little salt and pepper if needed.

3. Assemble the Shepherd’s Pie

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in a baking dish.

Carefully layer the mashed potato mixture on top of the beef.

Optional: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the potatoes for a golden, cheesy topping.
