Crafting Delicious Tomato Preserves

Sterilize your jars by pouring boiling water over them or submerging them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Let them dry completely.

Prepare the Tomatoes:
Wash tomatoes thoroughly. Remove stems and any blemishes. Cut into quarters.

Cook the Preserves:
Place the tomatoes in a large pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the tomatoes soften and release their juices.

Add Flavor:
Add fresh basil leaves according to your taste. Continue simmering for a few minutes to allow the flavor to infuse.

Blend (Optional):
For a smoother consistency, use a hand blender or food processor to purée the tomatoes.

Fill the Jars:
Pour the hot tomato preserves into sterilized jars, leaving about 1 cm (½ inch) of headspace. Seal immediately.

Cool and Store:
Let jars cool to room temperature. Store in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate after opening.
