1. Activate Yeast
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make Dough
Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture.
Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead on a floured surface for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled.
4. Shape & Fill
Gently punch down dough. Divide into 3 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a long rope (18–20 inches).
Braid the three ropes together. Form into a circle and pinch the ends together.
5. Second Rise
Place braided dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Cover lightly and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
6. Add Topping & Bake
