Step 1 – Prepare the Chicken Wings
Wash and pat dry the chicken wings. Optionally, cut at the joints for smaller pieces.
Step 2 – Marinate the Wings
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Add chicken wings and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to a few hours.
Step 3 – Bake the Wings
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the marinated wings on it. Bake for 30–40 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked through and crispy.
Step 4 – Make the Pineapple Sauce
While wings bake, combine pineapple chunks with the remaining marinade in a saucepan. Stir in cornstarch to thicken. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and pineapple is warmed through.
Step 5 – Coat the Wings
Transfer cooked wings to the saucepan with the pineapple sauce. Toss until wings are fully coated.
Step 6 – Serve
Garnish with sesame seeds, if desired, and serve hot.
Tips & Variations:
For extra crispiness, broil wings for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking.
Add chopped green onions for a fresh garnish.
Substitute honey with maple syrup or brown sugar for a slightly different sweetness.
Make it spicy by increasing red pepper flakes or adding sriracha to the sauce.
