DIY Steam Iron Cleaning – Make Your Iron Shine Naturally

Mix equal parts white vinegar and distilled water in a small bowl.

Optional: For extra cleaning power, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

2. Clean the Soleplate

Unplug the iron and let it cool completely.

Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the vinegar solution.

Wipe the iron’s soleplate thoroughly, paying special attention to burnt or sticky spots.

3. Clear the Steam Holes

Dip a cotton swab into the vinegar solution.

Gently clean out each steam hole to remove mineral deposits or starch buildup.

4. Flush the Iron

Fill the iron’s water reservoir halfway with the vinegar solution.

Turn the iron to the steam setting and allow it to steam for 5–10 minutes.

This helps remove internal buildup.

Empty the reservoir and refill with distilled water only. Repeat the steaming process to rinse out any remaining vinegar.
