In a bowl, combine beef chunks, soy sauce, lemon juice, and ground black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for 1 hour.
2. Sauté Aromatics and Beef
Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant. Add the marinated beef and sauté for 1 minute.
3. Simmer with Sauce
Add bay leaves and the marinade. Stir and cover the pan. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add Tomato Sauce and Broth
Add tomato sauce and stir to combine. Pour in 2 cups water, add the beef broth cube and Thai chili. Stir, cover, and cook for 40 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beef is tender. Add more water if needed.
5. Add Vegetables
Add carrots and potatoes and cook until soft. Then add bell peppers and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serving Tips
Serve hot with steamed rice.
The sauce thickens further when left to rest for a few minutes.
