Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Apples
Core the apples and, if desired, peel the tops. Mix the butter with cinnamon (and sugar if using). Stuff the butter-cinnamon mixture into the hollow of each apple.
Wrap in Puff Pastry
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares large enough to fully wrap each apple. Place an apple in the center of each square, then fold the pastry around it, sealing the edges.
Egg Wash (Optional)
Brush the tops of the wrapped apples with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake
Place the wrapped apples on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
Serve
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Optional: drizzle with caramel sauce or dust with powdered sugar.
